Gratitude changes the molecular structure of the brain! UCLA Mindfulness Awareness Research Center, in a study in 2008 appeared to indicate that being thankful boosts neurotransmitter serotonin and activates the brain stem to produce dopamine.
So it makes sense that seeking items to be grateful for, has as much of a benefit because it forces us to focus on positivity. The mere thought of gratitude sparks brain activity!
